FAQs

What is the difference between Community Access and Community Access Plus?

Our Community Access Membership provides just that - access to our Mamaya Health community! This means unlimited access to all of our peer-led support groups, as well as access to a new moderated online community.

Our Community Access Plus Membership includes our peer-led support groups and online community, but also provides access to exclusive material, like therapist led meditations, specialized worksheets, and more. This library is being added to on a regular basis, so Community Access Plus will ensure you get continual new material to support your mental health journey.

Is there a cost to join?

There is a minimal cost for our Community Access, because we have found that an investment, even for just the cost of one fancy coffee a month, can help individuals feel more engaged, and when we are engaged, we can experience real healing in community. There are options for our tiered membership, to be paid monthly or annually.

What if I am already a Mamaya Health client?

You will be able to access our Community Access membership for free and get a discount on our Community Access Plus membership. Just ask your primary therapist for the coupon!

What is a Mamaya Health Peer-Led Support Group?

Our peer-led support groups are welcoming spaces where individuals with shared experiences come together to connect, talk openly, and support one another. A Mamaya Health therapist facilitates some groups, while others are led by trained peer facilitators with lived experience.

Is this the same as therapy?

No. Peer-led support groups are not a substitute for therapy. These groups do not provide diagnoses or individualized clinical advice. If you're looking for therapy or clinical support, Mamaya Health offers expert mental health services and free consultations.

Who leads the group?

Facilitation varies by group. Some are guided by Mamaya Health therapists who offer structure and support, while others are led by peer facilitators or menthal health coaches - individuals who bring lived experience and have been trained to hold space for others. In all groups, conversation is participant-led and rooted in mutual support.

Are these groups skills-based or structured like a class?

No. These are not intervention-based or skills-training groups. They are peer-centered spaces designed for shared conversation, emotional support, and coping strategies—not clinical instruction or psychoeducation.

How long can I attend?

Our groups are open and ongoing. You can join for one session or keep attending for as long as the group is offered. There’s no limit to how many weeks or how many different groups in which you can participate.

Is it confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality and respect are essential to every Mamaya Health group. We ask all participants to honor each other’s privacy to ensure a safe and judgment-free environment.

Can I get clinical advice or a diagnosis in the group?

No. These groups are not a place to receive therapy, diagnosis, or medical guidance. However, if you need more support, our team can guide you to the right resource to explore therapy or medication management options at Mamaya Health.

Can I talk to the facilitator about my situation?

The facilitator's role is to hold space for the group, not to provide individual therapy or case management. If you’d like support beyond the group, we encourage you to schedule a free consultation to explore therapy options.

Can I connect with other group members outside of the group?

Yes, many people find value in building relationships beyond the group. That is why we have created our online community. We encourage connection while respecting each individual’s comfort level and boundaries. Anyone deemed to be behaving inappropriately in these community settings will be removed for the safety of the community.

Goals + Guidelines

Our goal is to create a welcoming, inclusive space where everyone feels heard and supported. To ensure a safe and supportive environment for all participants, we ask that everyone follows these simple guidelines:

Confidentiality: What is shared in this community stays in this community. Whether in a peer support group or in the online community, respecting each other’s privacy is essential for building trust and creating a safe space.

Privacy: Recording of any kind is not permitted. Please refrain from sharing any information, stories, or details discussed during groups, online or otherwise. Do not screenshot community participation for external use.

Participation: Share as much or as little as you feel comfortable. Listening is just as important as speaking. We ask that cameras remain on during peer support groups to support connection and safety.

Respect: Practice kindness and compassion toward yourself and others. Differences in experiences and perspectives are welcome and should be honored.

Please note, any individual deemed to be behaving inappropriately will be removed from the group and community. Refunds will not be issued in cases of forced removal.
